When we talk about teenagers, stereotypes often stick to them. Teenagers
are often synonymous with deviant behavior. That’s why the term
juvenile delinquency emerged. There are many examples of juvenile
delinquency, such as speeding on the highway, fighting between gangs
and schools, skipping school, threatening others, extortion, stealing,
robbing, drinking, free sex, drug addiction, etc. Juvenile delinquency
occurs because of factors that come from the youth themselves and
from outside, in the form of family parenting, inadequate education at
school, an unsupportive community environment and peer influence.
Juvenile delinquency has a negative impact on adolescents themselves
and others. For teenagers, juvenile delinquency has a physical and
mental impact. Physically, these teenagers can suffer from various
diseases due to an irregular lifestyle. Mentally, teenagers will grow
up as vulnerable individuals. In addition, juvenile delinquency also
has a negative impact on the environment. Parents can be stressed
because they feel they have failed to educate their children. For schools,
juvenile delinquency damages the reputation of the school. For the
community, juvenile delinquency causes security disturbances in the
surrounding community. There are several efforts to prevent and
overcome juvenile delinquency. The effort is so that adults can be
good examples for teenagers, equip them with religious values from
an early age. In addition, create a conducive family atmosphere with
democratic parenting so that teenagers grow up normally. In addition,
it is necessary to create a conducive school environment. In schools, student personality development programs should be improved. Finally,
the role of the community environment is also important. Society must
control the behavior of teenagers in their environment. All people in
the community must also show the right behavior, obey the norms and
rules that apply in society so that teenagers can imitate them.
