This article analyses theological messages of Amos’ prophecy in the
passage of the Prophecy of the Punishment upon the Nations and its
relevance to the relationship between religious communities. By using the
method of literature study, the author reveals a number of theological
messages in the passage, namely Yahweh is the God of all nations, God
upholds human dignity, and Israel’s responsibility as chosen nation. The
author also describes the relevance of these theological messages in the
context of the relationship between religions. Thus, it is hoped that the
riches of biblical traditions will inspire adherents of religions, especially
Christians, to build a constructive relationship with adherents of other
religions and beliefs in order to achieve world peace.
